About the 911 Memorial Stair Climb
Year 5, we welcomed 185 climbers and over 250 spectators to honor the fallen heroes of 9/11.
This year, we invite you to be part of something even bigger. Year 6 of this incredible event growing from 12 participants to over 200. With state-wide news coverage and published articles highlighting the event- your sponsorship supports our mission to educate our youth, keep the memories alive and gives your business a spotlight in front of an engaged and grateful community. It is FREE to participate, no registration fee is required,
Participants and supporters should arrive around 7:45 a.m. to get checked in and registered. At 8:15 a.m., an opening ceremony will be held with the National Anthem, bag pipe intro by Palm Coast Firefighter Lieutenant Patrick Juliano, speeches from local elected officials and students from Flagler County Schools and much more. Flagler County FireFlight will have an American Flag flyover and the sirens will sound at 8:46am promptly beginning the climb.
Each participant will climb up 10 flights of stairs, 11 times honoring the 110 flights of stairs of the World Trade Center. Up counts - down does not. At the end of the stairwell, participants will receive a punch on their badge indicating that the completed one flight. Each participant will be given tokens with faces of fallen heroes to carry all 110 flights. At the end of 110, each token will be placed on an American Flag in honor of their heroism on that tragic day.
Lunch will be provided for the participants by the Hammock Beach Golf Resort and Spa. We invite you to participate in the climb or come to simply support our first responders and participants. We will have American flags to wave, a kid’s fun zone on the lawn and vendors set up showing their support as well. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Lacy Martin – event coordinator HERE.
